Mr. Food No Fuss Meals: Our Table

As part of their commitment to give back to the community, the Wilsons, who own Mr. Food no-fuss Meals have developed a program which they refer to as Our Table. For every 10 meals made in the store, the Wilsons make an 11th meal and put it in the hands of someone in need in the community. The Wilsons explain, "As guests take home meals from our store to share our food with family members at their table, we are committed to sharing our table with less fortunate members of the community. The Wilsons currently have partnerships with Presybterian Hospice & Palliative Care, Family Promise, Lois’ Lodge, Room at the Inn, Hospitality House of Charlotte, Community Link, Friendship Trays, Blessings in the Storm, Women in Transition and Families Together. Since the Our Table program was established when the store opened earlier this year, Mr. Food no-fuss Meals has donated more than 400 family-sized meals – which means the Our Table program has provided more than 2000 servings to ease hunger in our community. This month we are kicking off specific drives to benefit families of patients of Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care and the Levine Children's Hospital. First-ever Charlotte "Milestones Walk" to
Raise Awareness and Funds for Childhood
Cancer Research

CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation will host the first-ever Charlotte MileStones Walk on Saturday, November 15 at Freedom Park, to benefit lifesaving childhood cancer research conducted by the Children's Oncology Group, the world's premier pediatric cancer research collaborative.  The Children's Oncology Group treats more than 90 percent of children with cancer in North America.

The MileStones Walk for Childhood Cancer is a fundraising event that unites people in the fight to reach the day when every child with cancer can be guaranteed a cure.   Directly or indirectly, nearly everyone knows a child or family who has been touched by childhood cancer, the #1 cause of death from disease in children.  Every school day, another 46 children, about two classrooms of students, are diagnosed with cancer in the United States.  MileStones walks emphasize fellowship and sense of community.

Registration opens in Freedom Park at 9:00 am.  Opening ceremonies and the walk begin promptly at 10:00 am.

Cookies For A Cause Holiday Gala

This is a movement by a tight knit girlfriend group that lost one of their own too soon (Kristi), much like all of us at Charlotte Smarty Pants. So in her honor they carry on by putting together cookie gatherings as a means to collect modest offerings for charitable organizations and causes they place value in. Cookie exchanges were the common bonding thread, thus Cookies For A Cause was born! See the web link for tickets and more information.
